For 35 years Local Solutions has been working to improve the quality of life for vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the North West. This is achieved through our wide range of services. As a not for profit organisation, we need your support to help us continue to meet the needs of local people. We would welcome donations in any of the following areas:
Homelessness: Each year we support hundreds of young homeless people between the ages of 16 – 35. Our clients have become homeless due to several factors which include breakdowns in family relationships, divorce or death of a parent. Our main aim is to provide a programme of support to integrate young homeless into the community and ultimately to equip them with the skills to lead independent lives. Find out more....
Domestic Violence: In the UK, eight women and two men are killed every month as a result of domestic violence. People who are affected by domestic violence can access support through advice and information via a free confidential telephone helpline. Find out more……
Older and Vulnerable People: We operate several services to support older and vulnerable people to help improve their quality of life. These include:- a homecare service (helping to maintain independence); home insulation and security measures (helping to reduce energy bills and provide extra security within the home) and a welfare benefits advice service.
Anti Bullying: Children and families affected by bullying can contact our free confidential telephone helpline where they can obtain advice and support. Workshops are also held in schools across Merseyside to educate young people on the effects of bullying and we have established Peer mentoring schemes to help break the cycle of bullying. Unpaid Carers: There are thousands of people across Liverpool who have the sole responsibility of caring for a relative, partner or friend with an illness or disability. Many become isolated and find themselves in a situation where they are unable to work due to their caring role. Carers can receive a range of information and support through our Carers Centre. Young People at Risk: We provide young people at risk with the opportunity to take part in educational opportunities through sport. Liverpool Watersports Centre opens opportunities for the young people to take part in sailing, canoeing and windsurfing, whilst Mobex Northwest provides group based courses in a range of outdoor activities such as abseiling, orienteering, mountaineering. These activities help to develop their personal and social skills and build their confidence and self esteem.
People with Disabilities: We offer a range of support for people with disabilities to help reduce social isolation and promote their independence. Our Shopmobility service provides the loan of mobility equipment to help with easier access to Liverpool City Centre facilities and our Welfare Rights Service team help with claiming correct benefit entitlements. Furthermore, we provide employment preparation for disabled people to help them to re-enter the workplace.
