Life Enhancing Technology Service


The Life Enhancing Technology Service aims to help individuals stay safe in the home. The service can be used to help many different people of all ages stay safe, and is currently predominantly used by those who may be prone to falls.

The Life Enhancing Technology Service can provide Tunstall Lifeline home units that allow the user to generate a call for help when it is needed, and connects them to a helpline service that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The home units are simple and easy to use, and connected to the main power supply and the telephone line in the user’s house.

This call for assistance can be made by pressing a button on the home unit, or on personal devices such as a pendant or wristband. There is an extra layer of protection with the pendant, which can detect motion and automatically call for help if it registers that its user has had a fall. It can also notify the helpline service and monitoring centre if it recognizes that it hasn’t been worn for a certain period of time.

The Life Enhancing Technology Service also provides a number of additional homecare accessories, including:

  • Supra C500 Keysafe – a strong mechanical box, allowing the user to safely and externally store the keys to a property, accessed only by those trusted with a combination code.
  • Handrails for inside and outside the home (doorways, hallways, pathways etc.)
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm
  • Bed Occupancy Sensor
  • Door Entry System and Property Exit Sensor
  • Flood Detector, Heat Detector and Smoke Detector
  • Medication Dispensers
  • Chair Pad and Pressure Mat

The service is funded by Liverpool CCG and is delivered by Local Solutions in partnership with Riverside. The Home Units are installed and manned by Riverside. It is available to people who live in the borough of Liverpool.

You can self-refer for the Life Enhancing Technology Service, which will require you to complete an application form which will then be signed by your GP. You don’t have to be a carer to benefit from the service. Anyone who thinks they would benefit can self-refer, regardless of age, illness or disability.
