Unpaid carers provide care and support to family members, friends and neighbours. Carers say that providing care can be extremely rewarding, but it can also bring with it many challenges including loneliness and isolation.
Carers Week takes place from 6th -13th June and provides the opportunity to shine a spotlight on carers and the work they do, with the theme this year being ‘Making Caring Visible, Valued and Supported’.
Liverpool Carers Centre, run by Local Solutions will be delivered cupcakes to carers across Liverpool on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th June. Following the difficult period during the pandemic when carers have been isolated and unable to access their communities, Liverpool Carers Centre want to reassure carers that they are here offering support both online and also face to face at the Carers Centre and in the wider community.
Shelley Southern, Operational Manager at Local Solutions Liverpool Carers Centre, said: “The challenges that the pandemic forced upon us was really only for a short time but for carers these are challenges that they face every day.
“As we move into Carers Week it is more important than ever to ensure that the Carers in our communities feel visible, valued, and supported.”
