With lockdown restrictions being present across the country for much of the past 12 months, many people within our community have felt the strain of the economic pressures that lockdowns bring. These pressures are of much bigger concern to those that are already vulnerable such as carers & older people.
To support those most in need, The COVID Winter Grant Scheme has been made available to Councils by the DWP to support those most in need with the cost of food, energy and water bills and other associated costs during the winter period, particularly considering the COVID-19 outbreak.
In Liverpool part of the funding is being administered by the Liverpool Carers Centre . It offers support to support vulnerable households with the cost of food, energy (heating, cooking, lighting), water bills and other essentials. Those that are eligible for this funding are vulnerable adults aged 60+ or adult unpaid carers aged 25+ caring for another adult experiencing or at risk of financial hardship.
Liverpool Carers Centre, run by Local Solutions, provides support to unpaid carers across Liverpool. This support ranges from providing carers assessments to running a health & wellbeing programme to arranging carers breaks. This, along with our work with other local organisations has allowed us the opportunity to ensure this funding reaches all those that need it.
