5 young people supported by our AIMS service recently completed a 10 week learning and development course with Street Soccer Academy. They got a great chance to practice their football skills whilst learning vital life skills. The course was delivered in partnership with the LFC Foundation
The AIMS team supports young people aged 16-24 who are with leaving care services or who have experience of the care system. The team is made up of Trans-Disciplinary workers with experience in multiple fields who can take a flexible approach to meet changing needs and who have knowledge of the client group and the wider community.
Along with the support provide by AIMS, the team also make referrals to other support programs that will be of benefit to the young people we work with. On this occasion 5 young people were referred to the Street Soccer programme. The programme provides what they call a 'Perfect Hat-trick' of support, including
- Professional football coaching
- Growth/Positive Mindset training
- Skills & employability workshops
Joe, one of the young people who completed the course had this to say:
"It was one of the best things I've done, it has really boosted my confidence"
Joe gave an incredible speech during the last session of the course:
