33 tenants from Plus Dane and First Ark’s sheltered schemes enjoyed trying out activities at Liverpool Watersports Centre in two taster afternoons. Everyone enjoyed speeding down to Albert Dock in the Sir Bert Massie Wheelyboat and trying out the rafted canoes. They then made the most of the café with its fantastic views of the waterfront and people enjoying different activities on the water.
It was the first visit to the watersports centre for everyone taking part and they were impressed by the different activities available. Feedback was fantastic with people saying that they had enjoyed trying out new activities, meeting new people and seeing the city from a new perspective. Here are some comments from the day:
“Fantastic, a wonderful day. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment.”
“I enjoyed being out on the water and feeling the wind.”
“It was something new and very enjoyable.”
The team at the watersports centre are currently working with local housing associations and Fusion 21 to develop plans so that more older people can enjoy the activities at the centre. Taking part in watersports is proven to be good for your health and wellbeing and with our fully accessible Wheelyboat, everyone is able to enjoy the water.
