Families at Plas Bellin Hall enjoyed a Family Fun Day on the 28th August. It included pony rides, fun bus, soccer darts, inflatable play area, raffle stall, face painting and exotic animals for the families to hold and learn about. One of the most attractions was June's 'I'm a Celebrity stall.'
Children enjoyed treats from the Fun Bus including Hot Dogs, Candy Floss, Popcorn and Slush Puppies which were very popular. Residents had made some lovely cakes for a cake stall.
June and Roz, chief organisers of the day arranged for an ‘I’m a Celebrity’ stall where children could feel, taste and smell some horrible concoctions, taking inspiration from Bushtucker Trials on the TV series. Particular highlights included looking for stars in 3-day old spaghetti that had been mixed with brown sauce and 3-day old tuna pasta!
Brave participants could then choose between a green or red ‘shot’ – cold mint soup and tomato juice respectively. Children taking part received a certificate and were joined by 2 of the Plas Bellin staff team who were courageous enough to take part.
“We’ve never had so many smiley faces and it was great to see the happiness across the site as people took part in things they would not usually do.”
June Davies, Plas Bellin Administrator
The day ended with a disco with lots of prizes with 'DJ Cookie.' The day was enjoyed by the 20 resident families and families who have moved onto their own accommodation in the last few months. Many of them expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to experience things like handling a giant spider and python!
