Supported Lodgings provides family style accommodation to homeless young people and operates across Merseyside and North Wales. Young people are accommodated with registered ‘Householders’ in their homes, they have their own room and share the kitchen and bathroom facilities. This is an alternative to hostel living which can be inappropriate for many young people. Each young person receives support from their Householder and a support worker.
This year we have had a number of young people that have been living with a supported lodgings householder who have now moved onto university. These young people have come from a variety of challenging backgrounds that had led them to our services. One young person had previously been in foster care and another was referred to us to get away from drug and alcohol issues at home.
During their time with Supported Lodgings, young people will receive support in many different ways from their householder and a support worker in order to help them achieve their goals. One of the young people who is now attending university received help with cooking skills from their householder whilst another received support with their student finance application.
We're so happy to see people we have supported doing so well, a support worker had this to say about a young person who has recently started university
Despite what had gone on for Chloe in the past, she has done amazingly well to achieve her goal of attending University in a different part of the country
