Congratulations to Hannah McCowen for completing an impressive 5K swim and raising £635 for homeless young people. Hannah works as Fundraising and Communications Manager for Local Solutions and also leads our Resettlement Passport Initiative. The money raised will go towards emergency items such as shoes, pyjamas and coats for homeless young people arriving in our Supported Lodgings projects.
The 5K swim took place at Liverpool Watersports Centre, in the Liverpool docks taking just under two and a half hours. Several other members of staff swam some of the distance to provide moral support and others cheered on from the centre itself. Hannah completed the swim with her friend Phoebe Rowell (pictured) who was raising money for another charity:
A massive thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported the swim! It was a proper challenge but I enjoyed it and really appreciated all the support from staff, trustees and my friends and family. From the 6 years I spent working at Supported Lodgings, I know the difference that getting a winter coat, PJs, shoes makes when a young person arrives with nothing, so I know this money will have a big impact.
The donation page will stay open until the end of September if you would like to donate. If you would like to undertake a sponsored challenge for one of our projects please do get in contact with Hannah or Mark on our Fundraising team.
