Fantastic News – Local Solutions’ Mytime initiative has been named as one of 50 ‘New Radicals’ by Nesta and the Observer. Every two years, Nesta and the Observer pull together a list of 50 radical thinking organisations and individuals developing creative ways of tackling society’s biggest challenges. The list which was compiled from hundreds of entries was published in yesterday’s Observer.

Congratulations to Hannah McCowen for completing an impressive 5K swim  and raising £635 for homeless young people.  Hannah works as Fundraising and Communications Manager for Local Solutions and also leads our Resettlement Passport Initiative.  The money raised will go towards emergency items such as shoes, pyjamas and coats for homeless young people arriving in our Supported Lodgings projects.

On 13th July, Steve Hawkins (in his capacity as LJMU Honorary Fellow) attended the graduation ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral, where he was delighted to present Neena Gill, CBE, MEP, with the award of an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her outstanding contribution to public service.  Former student, Neena, was the first British-Asian female to be elected in the U.K. and in the European Union in 1999.
