Every year our Bullybusters team celebrates anti-bullying week. This usually involves lots of visits to schools and bringing lots of young people together to share the anti-bullying message. This year the team had to work in a very different way to share the important message that although we are apart, we can be united against bullying.
The team shared these messages through a mix of pre-recorded assemblies and live virtual sessions. Throughout the Week Bullybusters delivered 12 Sessions engaging with 640 children and Young People across Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley.
They created a Pre-recorded Assembly for primary, SEN and secondary schools which was shared with over 50 schools across the 3 boroughs. The assemblies highlighted the following topics to consider:
- Kindness
- The pause
- Impact
- How to make best decisions
- How to help others and yourself
- Cyber safety
- Mindfulness
- How to report
- Safe hand (young persons reporting system)

The team ran live sessions using zoom which they were able to adapt to suit their audience’s area, age and ability. The sessions were ran at various times during the day to enure the team could engage with as schools, services and young people as possible. Bullybusters covered a variety of topics in these sessions.

It was great for the team to be able to engage with young people via the virtual sessions. The sessions gave the opportunity to run activities using worksheets to look at how best to encourage positive thinking and how to be united against bullying.
Activities included:
- The Pause
Encouraging and Supporting young people to stop and think before acting. To understand the importance of pausing before reacting.
- Disney challenge
Everyone knows Disney! This was to think deeper into characters roles and recognise how they had overcome issues in relationships.
- Another piece of the jigsaw
This was a pledge to do something positive ; making school a happier safer place for all. Highlighting that together we can achieve great things.
- The balance of friendships
Asking Young people to think about power and control, and recognize an imbalance of power.
- United Mission
Researching a global issue, to understand the power of being united. This was to enable young people to realise what is important to them; the lasting effect of positive actions and the barriers they may face.
- Shield
Understanding school values and creating a value that is important to the young person, group or school.
- Comic Strip
Considered different scenarios for young people allowing them to recognize different outcomes from different action and reactions.
Bullybusters also had the great opportunity to show that local services can demonstrate the theme of being united against bullying by co-delivering sessions with LFC foundation to various schools. These sessions focused on;
