Every year the Liverpool Carers Centre celebrates the hard work of unpaid carers across the city. In a normal year these celebrations are marked with a large event for carers to attend, access additional support, meet other carers and to most importantly have a bit of fun while they take a short break from their caring role. Due to the circumstances this year, it wasn’t possible to bring everyone together. However the importance of doing something for carers has never been more important so we planned a different way to celebrate the week.
Alongside virtual events during the week such as cooking sessions, a zoom quiz (or “QuiZoom” as it was named) and many more, we wanted to send a gift out to as many carers as we could to let them know we were thinking of them. Throughout the week 500 carers received a delivery of a cream tea gift box to their home. Within the box was a fresh scone, some jam, cream and the all-important tea bag.
We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback from carers and their families:
How lovely of @LocalSolutions_ to show how they value carers - they delivered this lovely package to my mum. If we were in school, we’d be looking at carers in our Come & See sessions and talking about what an important role they play.Well done to all carers #MakingCaringVisible pic.twitter.com/pHQxUT9qd1

Supporting Carers
Along with the activities available for carers, we also worked hard to promote the importance of providing support for unpaid carers. Take a look at some of their work below:
Being a carer
The theme of this years Carers Week was 'Making Caring Visible'. We thought the only way to do this was to hear from actual carers about their experiences. Read more here
