Resettlement Passport Shortlisted for Housing Award

The Resettlement Passport has been shortlisted for 'Innovation of the Year', in the UK Housing Awards. The Resettlement Passport was developed by a group of support workers, working within our Supported Lodgings service, who were looking for a more structured approach to supporting young people, preparing for a tenancy.

The course is highly interactive and very practical, and is made up 10 units that cover everything from understanding APR to identifying places to source second hand furniture locally, managing Universal Credit and reading gas meters.   Thanks to investment from One Ark, part of the First Ark Group, an online version of the course was created.

The Resettlement Passport is now being used by 5 Housing Associations, 4 Leaving Care Teams, homeless and mental health services and within prisons.  City West Housing Trust in Salford is one of the Housing Associations piloting the course:

‘The Resettlement Passport is a great initiative for City West Housing Trust. The introduction of the Resettlement Passport will further build upon our existing pre-tenancy programmes and allow for enhanced tenancy support measures to be implemented for our first time tenancy holders. We are delighted that our customers have already successfully engaged and completed the Passport and are now in a great position to access housing in the immediate future"

Catherine Taylor, Neighbourhood Services Manager, Citywest Housing

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on the 2nd May.
