Bully Busters

This project, managed by Local Solutions, is a collaboration between the Liverpool Echo, Greater Merseyside Local Education Authorities (LEA’s), Safer Merseyside Partnership and TUC. The project, which is aimed at tackling the problem of bullying, was launched on September 1st , 2004. The free telephone helpline provides a support and advocacy service for people affected by bullying and their families.

A team of specially trained staff operate the confidential telephone hotline and take calls from victims, parents or from people with information about bullying of children. As well as acting as a listening service, the team provides practical advice and can act as a referral agency.

The project is currently receiving over 200 calls a month and the project has recently issued all 350,000 schoolchildren in Merseyside with a small card containing their contact details (right). Another recent development for the project has been the launch of a new website, please click on the link below to visit the site.
