Bullybusters  

Managed by Local Solutions, Bullybusters started off life back in 2004 as a confidential freephone helpline for victims of bullying and their families.

The specially trained helpline staff can offer support through many different interventions and multi agency approaches. On average, the helpline receives 120 calls per month. 

The Bullybusters team work in schools and youth projects across Merseyside to raise awareness of bullying, including the many different forms of bullying, how bullying makes you feel, why people bully others and, most importantly, what young people can do if they feel they are being bullied.

The team can also assist schools in setting up peer mentors and specialise in cyberbullying and how to stay safe on-line. We work with parents, carers and professionals on how to tackle bullying.

Last year the team visited over 12,000 young people, and we also share our work via a tri weekly column in The Liverpool ECHO.

This unique service is funded by Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral Local Authorities

The project is currently receiving over 200 calls a month and the project has recently issued all 350,000 schoolchildren in Merseyside with a small card containing their contact details (right).
