Outreach
Welfare Rights Home Visiting Service
Local Solutions offer a home visiting service to assist housebound
residents and their carers who are unable to come along to the
office in person due to their disabilities or caring
responsibilities.
The advisor will visit the homes of the clients or visit patients
in hospital/residential homes etc. to offer advice and support in
relation to a whole range of welfare benefits.
Help is provided with the completion of complex benefit claim
forms. An holistic approach is undertaken to ensure that the
clients needs are met - this can be through the worker assisting
the client to gain access into other services within the statutory
and non statutory sectors - e.g. Occupational Therapist referrals,
home care services etc.

Mental Health Service Users
People from all different backgrounds can suffer a mental breakdown
and for many, this can result in them being admitted to hospital at
short notice. This disruption in their lives can have a serious
effect on their income - the person suffering may be the sole
breadwinner, or perhaps a lone parent on benefits.
It is not conceivable for people with mental health problems to
contemplate their financial affairs at such a distressing stage in
their lives and this consequently results in debt issues, which can
have a ‘knock on’ effect within the whole family.
To meet the needs of this particularly vulnerable client group,
Local Solutions provide weekly advice sessions within the
Broadoak Unit - a mental health in patient facility in Liverpool.
The Outreach service is ensuring that we provide accessibility to
all sections of the community.
