Diploma in Homebased Childcare (DHC)
Course Details:
This course is suitable for anyone wishing to work with children
and pursue a career as a Child Minder. The certificate is made up
of three units providing a stepped approach to learning. A 'unit
certificate' can be awarded for each step you complete, marking
your achivement and progress but to gain the full qualification you
must complete all three units.
Unit 1
(12 hours - 2 hours per week for 6 weeks) This unit is required as part of the registration process or can be
used for professional updating for established childminding, it has
been designed as a form of induction to your role as a registered
childminder. Assessment will be through a multi-choice test. You
will be given plenty of support and advice to complete them.
Unit 2 + Unit 3
(60 hours - 2 hours per week for 30 weeks) This unit has been designed to help you evaluate and build on your
current knowledge, skills and practice as a chidminder.
Unit 4 + Unit 5
(60 hours - 2 hours per week for 30 weeks) This unit will focus on broadening your knowledge in areas such as
'children's development and a planned approach to learning' and
'early learning goals'.
Entry Requirements
: Diploma in Homebased Childcare - Unit 1 is required as part of
the registration process
