Level 2 Certificate for the Children & Young Peoples Workforce
This is a generic qualification that meets the needs of learners who wish to work in a diverse range of settings covering the age range of children aged 0 -19 years. Examples of suitable roles are:
· Care worker
· Nursery Nurse
· Childminder
· Youth and Community Worker
The qualification is mapped to the National Occupational Standards and is a bridging qualification towards the Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma.
To achieve the qualification learners must achieve 31 credits from the mandatory units and 4 credits from the optional units. There will be a minimum of 267 guided learning hours, and assessment is carried out via a combination of methods which include observation, on and off the job training, building a portfolio of evidence, using diverse range of assessment methods to cover knowledge based units or externally set and internally verified assignments.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements; however learners must have potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualifications in the setting or workplace.
Candidates who wish to enter the children and young people workforce will be legally required to undergo a formal record check prior to taking up any voluntary employment/ paid work.
