Carers from Local Solutions’ Homecare service were celebrated at today’s Carer of the Year Celebration. Over the last year, 562,000 hours of care have been delivered to people living in Liverpool, St Helens and at our Extra Care scheme Cherry Tree House on the Wirral, enabling many people to remain living in their own homes.
This year’s awards were extended to include the ‘Ray of Sunshine Award,’ where customers supported by our Homecare team were invited to make a nomination for someone who made a real difference to their lives. After a large number of nominations in this category, the judging panel had the difficult task of selecting a winner.
Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted. The winners are:
Carer of the Year Robert Owen Award: Jill Birkett
Star of the Year Award: Kelly Lewis
Most Consistent Performer Award: Catherine Snow
Ray of Sunshine Award: Kerry Bullock
Commitment to Learning and Development Award: George Odjie
Team of the year Award: Cherry Tree House Team
A special award for Outstanding Bravery was also awarded to Lisa Doran and Wendy Capps for carrying a Homecare customer from her home when a fire started, and alerting the emergency services – before continuing with their visits! When the fire brigade arrived, they stated that without the bravery and quick thinking of our carers, this lady would have been unlikely to have been able to get out of the house in time.
The awards event was hosted at Local Solutions with speeches from David Ellis, Director of Strategy and Performance; Helen Richards, Head of Homecare and Robert Owen who thanked the carers for everything they do on behalf of Local Solutions’ Trustees.
