Wirral Sport Development (NCS) raises money for Wirral Supported Lodgings

Wirral Sport Development (NCS) raises money for Wirral Supported Lodgings

On Thursday 30th July 2015 staff from our Wirral Supported Lodgings (WSL) gave a presentation to a group of young people from the Wirral Sport Development, National Citizenship Service (NCS).

As part of their programme the young people deliver a social action project, where they choose a local community group that they wish to help.

After the meeting, one of the groups chose our WSL project and wanted to raise funds to put together packs for when young people move in and out of our scheme.  Staff from WSL met up with the young people to support a cake sale and tombola they had organised to try and raise funds.

There was a brilliant turn out on the day from young people from the NCS and householders to help with the sale and also 2 young people had made cakes.

When produced these packs are going to contain things like blankets, chocolate, toiletries and other home comforts to try and place the young people at ease when they come to supported lodgings. The move-out packs are going to contain things like kettles, toasters, cleaning products etc.

Alison Egan, WSL Support Co-ordinator, said "The support that we have received from the young people from the NCS is tremendous and will provide a massive boost to our young people when it comes to leaving WSL. A special thanks to all concerned – the cakes were great!"
