The Clubhouse hosts Gin Masterclass for 50 Carers

On the 6th September, the New World Trading Company very kindly hosted a wonderful afternoon celebration for 50 unpaid carers who are all part of the ‘mytime’ initiative.  The event was held at the Clubhouse in Liverpool One, just one of the NWTC restaurants, and carers were invited to experience and enjoy a “Gin Masterclass”, where they learnt about all things gin, including the history, the connections with Liverpool and all of the botanicals used to make gin.

The Clubhouse laid on a fabulous spread which was enjoyed by all and was a massive hit! For many of the carers it was the first 'mytime' event they had attended. The afternoon was a great opportunity for carers to come together and meet other carers who they didn’t know until the event. It was perfect for carers who are unable to take advantage of the overnight breaks available via ‘mytime’, due to their caring responsibilities. The staff at the Clubhouse were amazing, they could not have been more helpful and definitely added to the success of the afternoon.

The feedback from this event shows what it meant to these carers:

“I was so nervous at first.  The food was exceptional and the company was great! I would like to express my gratitude. The rest of my week was hugely draining and emotional and it is easy to get completely overwhelmed. That is not unusual but the difference today is that I look back on the week and it contains a tiny oasis of ‘metime’. Thanks again to you all.”

“I loved it all. It was great to be with other carers who understand. Organisation was excellent. I haven't been out for a long time but this has given me the confidence to go to other social events. Thank you”

“Excellent! I liked the companionship and talking to others in a similar situation. It was very well organised”

“I loved it all and it has helped me to get out of the house again to socialise.”

“Thanks very much for the lovely afternoon you held at the club house. Great food/drink, and a chance for people who genuinely find it difficult to give themselves any leisure time.”

“Excellent! I liked the companionship and talking to others in a similar situation. It was very well organised.”

“It was an excellent event, even though I don't like gin… the masterclass was informative. It was great meeting amazing people.”
