Positive Futures for LS projects due to NCS fundraising!
The National Citizenship Service Positive Futures programme have raised funds for our Liverpool Supported Lodgings project and our Homeground Hostel through bike rides, bag packing events and a cake sale.
During the past couple of weeks, as part of their National Citizenship Service, the Positive Futures group (Liverpool) participated in a variety of fundraising activities in order to raise money and awareness for Local Solutions' youth homelessness projects.
The group participated in a bag packing activity at Walton's B&M store. Additionally, members of the group took part in a sponsored bike ride at Stanley Park on Friday 31st July, where they rode a amazing 100 laps between them and it was a great success.
In order to raise more money the team took part in a cake sale on Tuesday 4th August in Anfield sports centre . They also took part in a second bag pack on Thursday 6th at the B&M store in Switch Island which proved to be as successful as the first one.
As a group of young people they decided to split the mammoth £600 proceeds between our Homeground Hostel and our Liverpool Supported Lodgings.
They researched our projects and as the hostel provides accommodation and support to young people and adults experiencing homelessness they thought it would benefit from a donation and that our Liverpool Supported Lodgings which provides family-style accommodation for 16-25 year olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness would benefit from made up toiletry and household essential packs.
Steve Hawkins, Chief Executive at Local Solutions said “The magnificent efforts displayed by these young people will enable Local Solutions to continue its mission to "build resilience and raise aspiration" among some of our most vulnerable community members. I cannot praise them highly enough!”
Local Solutions would like to thank everyone at Positive Future NCS who took part in the various fundraising events, your fantastic support will have a positive effect on young homeless people in our projects. We wish you every success in the future!
Thank you for your wonderful support of our homelessness projects.
