Volunteers are required for a vital service provided within the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the Broadgreen University Hospital. Local Solutions’ Carers Project is seeking enthusiastic individuals who can spare a couple of hours a week to provide assistance to carers who are visiting friends/relatives in hospital.
The Project, which provides advice and support to carers within Merseyside currently has a number of trained volunteers, many of whom have been carers themselves, available to provide information and guidance on accessing support services, such as welfare benefits agencies, respite care and equipment suppliers. Due to the increasing number of people becoming carers each year, the number of volunteers working within the Project has to increase to meet the demand.
The Carers Project has been invaluable for carers in Merseyside and has been seen as a welcome resource. Carers Project Team Leader Hazel Brown comments “Caring affects many people and that is why it is important that we listen to carers and set up services like this that give them the support they require”
The volunteers are required for both the Broadgreen University Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Information Points.
