High Sheriff Visits Charity

L-R Assistant Chief Executive Stephen Hawkins, Chairman David Mathieson, High Sheriff of Merseyside, Assistant Chief Executive Pat Devlin and Chief Executive Malcolm Pearson Local Solutions were delighted to receive a visit recently from The High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mr Stuart Christie, which resulted from an invitation extended from the Chairman of the charity David Mathieson. The visit gave representatives from the charity an ideal opportunity to inform him about the work that the charity provides to help disadvantaged people in the northwest region.

The High Sheriff was welcomed by the charity’s Chairman and Chief Executive Malcolm Pearson who gave a background to the charity, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. He also met Assistant Chief Executives, Pat Devlin and Stephen Hawkins who gave an account of the work currently being undertaken by the organisation.

Following the visit to the charity’s main headquarters, the High Sheriff visited Homeground, a hostel on Scotland Road, which provides accommodation and support to vulnerable homeless people. Here he was introduced to members of staff from the project who gave him a brief tour of the newly refurbished building and spoke about how the project is tackling the growing issue of youth homelessness in the region.

The visit also included meeting managers and staff at ‘Worst Kept Secret’, a new project that Local Solutions is managing. The project is playing an important role in addressing domestic violence in Merseyside and has recently moved into the building on Scotland Road.
