Sefton Supported Lodgings enjoys trips out in Liverpool

As part of their summer YP Forums, Sefton Supported Lodgings (SSL) have participated in an activity down at Liverpool Watersports Centre, as well as a day soaking up some of the culture of the city of Liverpool.

Five young people from SSL visited the Liverpool Museum and the local dockland area.  Although the    museum has been open a year, none of the
young people had previously visited the site so therefore this was a good opportunity for them to explore and experience Liverpool through the past,
present and future.

Liverpool Museum offered something for everyone, particularly striking was the insight offered from the stories of the ordinary Liverpudlians from days gone by.  This sparked a discussion about colloquialisms used in different areas of the city.  Also a number of the young people captured some of the views from the amazing vista of the Pier Head and surrounding area.

Following their whistle stop tour of Liverpool’s cultural maritime heritage they had a detour into Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter and experienced one of Liverpool’s favourite Greek restaurants ‘The Eureka’.  For most of the young people it was their first taste of Greek cuisine and all vowed to return in the near future.

This led them nicely onto their second summer trip where they had an increase in numbers as nine young people enjoyed an Asian meal at Host restaurant in the heart of the Georgian Quarter.  Again this was a first for most of the young people to experience this style of Asian food as well as using chopsticks which was met with much hilarity!  This was closely followed by an afternoon’s activities on the Mersey Riviera at Liverpool Watersports Centre.  John and his assistant were extremely helpful and supportive towards the young people and everyone had lots of fun.  So watch out for SSL’s next instalment down at Farmageddon!

Sefton Supported Lodging would like to say a big thank you to Capita Symonds for kindly donating funds to make their trips possible.
