Carers Week Event 2016

Carers Week Event 2016

Local Solutions will be holding an event in Williamson Square on Thursday 9th June as part of this year’s National Carers Week celebrations. The event will take place between 12pm and 6pm and will be marked by a formal reception at the Liverpool Playhouse in Williamson Square, including an official launch by the Rt. Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Liverpool.

The charity will be joined by numerous local agencies, providing carers with a wide range of advice and information to support them in their role. There will also be pamper sessions, demonstrations and a free prize draw for the chance to win two tickets to Circo’s Eccentrico dinner show.

Hazel Brown, Head of Carers Services at Local Solutions said, “This event is about recognising and celebrating the support that carers give loved ones and showing them they are part of a large community of carers in Liverpool.   There are so many groups and activities that they can access such as Liverpool Carers Centre or My Time so it is about letting them know what is out there.  The event also gives organisations across the city the opportunity to show carers what support is available and that Liverpool is a caring city”

Carers Week is a national campaign, taking place between 6th-12th June, which raises awareness of the issues carers face and recognises the excellent work that they do.  Organisations and individuals across the UK organise activities and events which members of the local community can get involved in to help highlight the importance of caring.  This year’s theme is ‘Carer Friendly Communities’.  To find out more information about carers week visit http://www.carersweek.org/.
