AIMs trip to Moel Famau

On 28th March, our AIMs project visited Moel Famau in North Wales as part of its enrichment programme.

The trip was a good opportunity for the young people to get some fresh air and stretch their legs.  A couple of them had never been before so it was great for them to get to see it and they were impressed by the scenery considering how close it is to home.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and they were even asking about returning to Wales to climb Snowdon!

Since it was established in January 2015, AIMs has seen significant outcomes, in particular around young people getting into employment and sustaining stable accommodation.  Having accommodation and employment are widely recognised as key to sustaining positive change and breaking out of the cycle of disadvantage.

To date, out of an initial cohort of 139 young people, AIMS has supported:

  • 110 to sustain accommodation for over 6 months

  • 88 to sustain accommodation for over 12 months and 30 for over 18 months

  • 81 to complete accredited qualifications

  • 37 into employment, 11 of these have now been employed for over 6 months
