Young Homeless Urgently Need Your Help

Due to an increase in teenage homelessness, the Merseyside Accommodation Project (MAP Knowsley) is calling upon householders in the Kirkby area who have a spare room to come forward and offer lodgings to a homeless teenager.

The young people aged 16 and 17 have become homeless for a variety of reasons – often there has been a breakdown in their family or following neglect or abuse, others have been in local authority care for a number of years.

The young people are supported by a team of support workers and are encouraged to take up an educational programme to prepare them for eventual independent living.  Dame Judi Dench (Patron of MAP) said, “The work done by MAP in helping young people is vital and deserves the encouragement and support of the community.”

The project, is appealing for more householders in the Knowsley area to join the register. MAP householders receive £140 per week for board and lodgings.
