Come Dine with Me finals...

Come Dine with Me finals...

Knowsley Supported Lodgings have been running their own version of the popular Channel 4 television series Come Dine with Me with young people and their householders competing. Sam and Lizzie with their certificates.

Sam Blackwell was crowned champion with Lizzie O’Rourke coming a close second. Both contestants had won the previous rounds and cooked again – a three course meal for six people. Both young people hosted the evenings in their homes where they live with Supported Lodgings householders.

The judges of the competition included Councillor Graham Wright, Marion Wright and Mark Lesley, a chef running his own catering business. Here are some of their thoughts:

“It was a real honour to be invited to judge the final of the Come Dine with Me competition – the dishes were really delicious and so much hard work had gone into preparing them. Choosing a winner was a really difficult decision!” Cllr Graham Wright, Cabinet member for Children and Family Services, Knowsley.

"I was so impressed by the food that both the finalists created and that they were both so calm when they hosted their evenings!” Chef Mark Lesley, Kingdom Catering.

Over the course of the whole competition eight young people took part and had the opportunity to develop their cooking, money-management and social skills.  The quality of food produced was exceptional and we hope that the young people who took part will carry their new confidence in cooking and hosting friends in their home into the future.

Special thanks to Marks and Spencer, Villages Hotel, the Suites Hotel and David Lloyd Gym for their generous contributions towards prizes.
