Supported Lodgings enjoys annual party

On 11th March Local Solutions held its annual party in support of young homeless people.  The event was a huge success where householders, friends and staff all gathered to enjoy an evening of entertainment at the Sandon function suites in Anfield.

The party was held specifically to raise funds for the young homeless people who we support through our Supported Lodgings initiatives, formerly known as the Merseyside Accommodation Project.

The occasion was an ideal opportunity to launch the new name, which has changed since we now cover a wider geographical area, as well as to celebrate the project’s 25th anniversary.

Hilda Johnston marked the occasion by cutting the cake.  A dedicated householder since April 2000, Hilda has provided a home to over 24 young homeless people.  Wirral Operational Manager Glynis Letts thanked Hilda and all the householders for their support of the service which is helping to improve the lives of so many young people.

A range of local businesses very kindly supported the event including Costco, David Cakes of Distinction, Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere football clubs as well as Granada Studios.

Generous donations and prizes were also received from The Marriot Hotel, Vauxhall Children’s Paint Shop, Benson Signs, as well as householders and staff.  Thanks to this generous support a total of £1,000 was raised which will be used to organise day trips and recreational events such as watersports activities to enable the young people to get away from their daily routine and give them an opportunity to have fun.
