CQC Chief Executive tours Liverpool Carers Centre

Liverpool Carers Centre was delighted to welcome the Chief Executive of the Care Quality Commission on a recent visit.

Cynthia Bowers was accompanied by colleagues, Ann Ford, Paula Smithson and Isabelle Smith whilst touring the Centre and learning of its facilities and services offered to unpaid carers across Liverpool.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England. Its aim is to ensure better care is provided for all, whether in hospital, in care homes, in people’s own homes, or elsewhere.

CQC regulate health and adult social care services in the country, whether provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies or voluntary organisations. They also protect the rights of people detained under the Mental Health Act.

Cynthia and her colleagues met with staff and carers from the Centre as well as Steve Reddy, Sandra Campbell and Jane Weller of the Children’s Families & Adults department of Liverpool City Council.

In addition to touring the Centre, the group also observed a ‘Caring with Confidence’ course session and concluded the visit with lunch.
