Anti bullying service supports launch of new strategy

Cllr. Joe Anderson with Bullybusters' Kayte Eaton.Bullybusters attended the launch of Liverpool’s Anti Homophobic Bullying Strategy at St. George’s Hall on May 17th.

Guest speakers at the event, which was held on International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO), included human rights campaigner, Peter Tatchell and the Leader of Liverpool City Council, Joe Anderson.

In his speech, Cllr. Anderson made a promise not to cut the budget allocated to work in the anti bullying field, whilst Leader.

The five year plan aims to tackle homophobic bullying of young people in the city and is one of the first of its type in the country. It has the backing of local church leaders, representatives from the lesbian, gay and bisexual community and the National Union of Teachers.
