MP for Wavertree takes a tour of Local Solutions' services

Local Solutions today welcomed Liverpool Wavertree MP Jane Kennedy along with her prospective successor, Luciana Berger, for a tour of the organisation’s services.

Jane and Luciana met with carers who were taking part in a Tai Chi class at the Liverpool Carers Centre, which is housed within the main headquarters at Mount Vernon Green. Second port of call was the Scotland Road site where they learned about the organisation's work with young homeless people and support services for people affected by domestic violence and bullying.

Next on the agenda was a trip to Liverpool One, where Local Solutions' Shopmobility service is based. Jane and Luciana were keen to learn about how the service is helping people with mobility restrictions with easier access around the amenities in the city through the loan of equipment. The visit concluded with a tour of Merseysport Centre at Queen’s Dock which is opening up watersports activities for the whole community.

Chief Executive, Steve Hawkins, commented: “I was pleased to welcome an old friend in Jane Kennedy and to meet Luciana Berger who expressed a great interest in our work (especially the progress we are making with our Future Jobs Fund programme). Like many of our visitors, Jane and Luciana were struck by the diversity of our work programmes, which are improving the lives of so many people."
