Return visit from Judge Fletcher
Local Solutions welcomed Judge David Fletcher CBE, from the Community Justice Centre North Liverpool on 3rd March. Judge Fletcher visited the organisation’s Scotland Road site to hear about the services that support ‘at risk’ groups, including those affected by domestic violence and young homeless people.
The Community Justice Centre, based in Kirkdale, is part of the city's Magistrates', Youth Crown and County Courts and deals solely with anti-social behaviour type crimes such as vandalism and graffiti - which often lead to more serious crimes. The centre, which serves the wards of Anfield, Breckfield, the Eldonian Village, Everton, Kirkdale, Vauxhall and Walton, combines the powers of a courtroom with a range of community resources that are available to residents of the above wards as well as victims, witnesses and offenders.
Judge Fletcher, who first visited the organisation in the autumn, met Debbie Cooke, Senior Manager, as well as the organisation’s Chairman, Robert Owen and Chief Executive, Steve Hawkins. Judge Fletcher also met with Sue Shelley, Mentor of the Intensive Support Programme. Sue supports young homeless people identified as the ‘hardest to engage’ who are experiencing profound exclusion. The programme provides an exceptional level of support and intervention to make a significant impact in the lives of those with unmet needs through an intensive programme.
The visit provided an ideal opportunity for both organisations to discuss positive ways of working in partnership in the future.
