NCC Helping Staff to be Healthy
The Northern Conference Centre (NCC) is promoting healthy eating to Local Solutions’ staff by providing them with (and encouraging them to eat) fruit, veg and salads during their working day.
The NCC recently arranged for a Community Food Worker from Liverpool PCT to spend a day in the main reception of Local Solutions’ headquarters in Mount Vernon Green. Kerry Taverner was on hand to inform passing workers of healthy options and portion control when choosing what to eat.
Kerry gave out leaflets and free samples of nutritious food including mackerel and spring onion on wholemeal toast.
She also displayed test tubes illustrating the amount of fat contained within popular foods such as crisps, chocolate and takeaways.
Staff were then encouraged to set themselves a personal challenge such as giving up or cutting down on one ‘bad’ food to begin their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
Another initiative of the NCC is to provide a large basket of fruit (free of charge) that is left in Local Solutions’ main reception for staff to enjoy, which is proving to be very popular.
