Lord Mayor Visits Scotland Road Site
The Lord Mayor, Cllr. Mike Storey, today paid a visit to Local Solutions’
Scotland Road site, formerly the Vernon’s Pools offices, which houses numerous services aimed at helping vulnerable people.
During the visit, two young homeless people from the supported lodgings scheme met with the Lord Mayor. They discussed the individual support they receive from their key workers with a strong emphasis on training and employment to help them gain independence and guide them towards a positive future.
The Lord Mayor also had an opportunity to meet the staff of Bullybusters and Worst Kept Secret which are services that offer confidential helplines to provide counselling, information and advice to people affected by bullying or domestic violence.
Local Solutions also operates a branch of its domiciliary care and support service from the site to help disadvantaged people to maintain independence within their own homes.
The visit concluded with a tour of Homeground which is a 29 bedded hostel, where the Lord Mayor met with residents receiving accommodation and enquired about their plans for the future and aspirations.
The Lord Mayor commented on the great work stemming from the building via its various departments and wished all of the staff and residents a positive future.
