Carers Visit Southport Eco Centre
A group of 14 carers and three staff members from Local Solutions took a trip to the Southport Eco Centre on 10th June.
The Eco Centre provides free information about the environment with a particular focus on climate change, energy, water, travel and tourism. The trip was funded by Liverpool City Council as part of the National Carers Week activities.
The group enjoyed a tour of the Eco Centre, took part in an interactive quiz and displays as well as looking at how big their Environmental Footprint was (with staff needing more plants than carers)! There was also a look at the Eco Garden whilst dodging the rain.
After the morning session a healthy lunch was provided and in the afternoon all were asked to build a model scale of a solar powered wind turbine. This was followed by a repeat of the morning’s quiz to see if scores had improved – the group did very well proving they had learned a lot on the day.
