Homeground football team meet LFC star
Members of Homeground’s football team were presented with medals on June 2nd from Liverpool player Jamie Carragher.
The climax of this year's Liverpool Homeless Football Club league took place at the Pitz Power League in Kirkdale and saw every participant of the day receive a medal from the LFC star.
LHFC was established in 2007 with the aim of giving all homeless adults in the Merseyside area - who might otherwise be excluded - the opportunity to participate in football on a regular basis.
It has recently successfully completed its second season; the Homeground Project is a founder member and participates in both the league and cup competitions. LHFC also gives all who attend the chance to enrol in various educational, coaching and refereeing courses; there are also professionals
at each match day providing health information as well as healthy refreshments.
Ray Smith, Manager of Homeground's football team commented: “Being part of LHFC is about more than just football, it allows those who take part to build their confidence, self esteem, social skills, fitness and to have some fun away from the strains of being homeless."
Ray and the team would like to thank Venture Housing Association for their support in the form of supplying a new kit and equipment.
