Council\'s Boost for Domestic Violence Service
Council's Boost for Domestic Violence Service
Local Solutions has been granted the funds necessary to enhance its campaign to combat domestic violence through its Independent Domestic Violence Advisory service (IDVA).
The three year contract from Liverpool City Council enables the organisation to devote more time and effort into battling the ongoing problem of domestic violence. The funding will allow the organisation to recruit a full-time manager and hire a further two advisors to join the existing team. Support offered will include safety planning, advice on legal options, support through the court process, representation at the MARAC and signposting to helpful agencies.
Clients are referred to IDVA from a range of agencies, including police, social services and those associated with the MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference). A MARAC involves local agencies who meet to discuss the highest risk victims of domestic abuse in their area and the subsequent plan of action to ensure safety of individuals.
