\"Happy Birthday\" MAP!
"Happy Birthday" MAP!
On 19th March colleagues from Merseyside Accommodation Project (MAP) gathered together to celebrate the project’s 24th anniversary.
Since its inception in 1985, MAP has been a lifeline for thousands of young people aged 16 and 17 years who find themselves homeless and in desperate need of a helping hand at a difficult time in their young lives.
The majority of the young people MAP supports have become homeless, often through no fault of their own. Many have been in the care of Social Services until their 16th birthday, at which point this care ends. MAP assesses each young person and finds them a home with one of its registered householders, who offer the young person a spare room in their own homes. Fully qualified key workers are on hand to ensure the placement is a success.
Chief Executive of Local Solutions, Stephen Hawkins welcomed staff and volunteers and paid tribute to the commitment and dedication shown by staff, many of whom have been with the project for over ten years, as well as welcoming a number of new additions to the team. “MAP is one of the projects that contribute most to Local Solutions’ overall mission of improving lives – I am very proud of all that they have achieved”.
