New Support for Young Homeless People

New Support for Young Homeless People

Thanks to the John Paul Getty Jnr. Charitable Trust, Local Solutions hasISM Mentor, Sue Shelley. secured a grant to fund a post to enhance its support for young single homeless people in Liverpool.

The new Intensive Support Mentoring (ISM) Programme will work in collaboration with hostels and housing providers within Liverpool offering clients one to one intensive support and advocacy.

Programme Co-ordinator, Sue Shelley, will work within an intensive support programme with a client group of four to eight young homeless people at any one time. Clients will be referred to the programme from homeless agencies across Liverpool, with length of time in the homeless system being a key indicator of their need.

Sue added, “We are delighted that the Trustees of the John Paul Getty Jnr. Charitable Trust have supported this exciting initiative.  We endeavour to make a dramatic impact on the lives of young homeless people through this holistic support package. The aim is to help individuals gain the confidence and skills to rebuild their lives for a better future.”
