New Sports and Dance Equipment for Playschemes

Local Solutions has successfully secured funding from the National Lottery’s ‘Awards for All’ programme, which will be used to purchase sports and dance equipment for the organisation’s playschemes in Knowsley.  These schemes provide activities for young people aged 5-14 during the school holidays at rates which are affordable for parents with low incomes.

The new equipment will enable the team to offer activities w hich are highly beneficial for the health and fitness of the young participants. In addition to the health benefits, the activities will also link in to the National Curriculum development stages and will promote a greater interest in health amongst participants.

Local volunteers will be trained in the use of the new equipment at each of the playschemes. This will create closer links between the centres and the communities that they serve. The activities are also expected to attract new people to the centres, increasing the level of support to users.
