Residents of the Local Solutions Homeground hostel were treated to a festive makeover on Monday 11th December as part of a Business in the Community campaign.The Customs and Excise team with the gifts for the residents. Also pictured Tony Rigby, Homeground Manager, second from right.

A team of staff from Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise based in Queens Dock Liverpool, spent the day at the hostel for young homeless people adorning the corridors and television room with festive decorations. Hundreds of toiletries and gift sets were also generously donated to the residents along with a cheque for £100 which will be used to purchase a DVD player. A buffet was organised to take place at  the end of the day and £5 gift vouchers were handed out to each resident.Tony Rigby receives a cheque from a Customs and Excise representative

The day was co-ordinated by the North West branch of Business in the Community (BITC) which encourages organisations to have ‘social responsibility’ and develop links with community activities David Smallshaw of BITC explains: “Every year we run campaigns across Liverpool which allow staff from businesses to see all of the good work that is happening locally and spread the message.”

Tony Rigby, Manager of Homeground said “I was pleased to welcome the Customs and Excise team courtesy of Business in the Community. At this time of year in particular, the young people at the hostel really appreciate gifts and kind gestures as it lets them know that they have not been forgotten about.”
